God's Got Your Back

I really want to think once you say yes to Christ you get off the "hitlist" of the enemy. Well. Spoiler alert. Ya don't. In fact that target on your back just got much larger! What Christ gives you is awesome new weapons for the battle fight. Plus some really cool armor to go with it.

Of course, you have to learn how to use the new weapons and armor and recognize the enemy! Yep, there's a learning curve, but the Holy Spirit is a great instructor! Seriously, he's like Black Ops and a Ninja all in one!

Let me give you a little run down of my world...

In the last few months, I've self-published my first book, opened my first online store, and joined an alternative to TikTok. Every step of the way the mental battle has been brutal! I've been tormented by self-doubt, accusations from the enemy, unfounded anxiety, stress, and an overall sense of foreboding and doom.

And y'all. I'm a full-on, sold-out, singing, dancin, praying BELIEVER!! How could this be?

The answer is simple. We have an enemy that comes to steal, kill, and destroy. He does this in several ways but his fave is deception and torment. He deceives you by bringing up anything from your past and impersonates you in the process! Those thoughts in your head sound... well.. just like you! The same words you use. The same phrases you use, all of it sounds just. like. you.

The enemy torments you with thoughts of past failures, mistakes, and pain. And if that isn't enough he twists situations from the past to look like you did something wrong so you lose sleep and stress over something completely fabricated by the enemy!

Now let's talk about those weapons. The first weapon is God's actual words. Starting with taking every thought captive. 2 Corinthians 10:5 You have to examine the thought to see who it belongs to. In this case, it's straight outta the pit. Identifying the pit talk you see what God has to say about it. Psalm 139:5 lays down the law and puts up the roadblock for having the past thrown at ya!

You've gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. You have laid your hand on me! Psalm 139:5

Boom!! There it is! You follow behind me to spare me from my past. Or PROTECT me from my past. In the military, this is referred to as "I've got your 6" or your back.

You can choose to look back, to hold onto the past, to relive every word of it OR you can choose to keep eyes on your future. Your future that is filled with Christ's love and perfect plan for your life.

God has also provided armor. An entire outfit in the latest style! Every battle requires the Helmet of Salvation, especially when your mind is the target of the enemy. The Helmet of Salvation reminds you who you are and whose you are. The enemy has no right to taunt a Child of God. Unfortunately, we don't always remember our dad happens to be God, the King of the Universe.

There are two fronts we are attacked on, simultaneously. We're being tormented by our past and living in fear of the future. You've been engaged in this same battle at some point in your life. You may not have known the battle is a double threat.

I'm sharing more about my battle in this video.
